Japan - Assisting in a time of crisis
As foreign otaku, many of us have come to love and admire the country that many of our favorite past-times originated. When the Earthquake & Tsunami hit Northern Japan on Friday, even though many of us don't have loved ones in the land of the Rising Sun, we instantly became concerned. Our hearts, thoughts & prayers go out to all affected by the terrible event and it goes without saying that Japan is going to need assistance to recover from the damage done.
If you're unaware on how to assist, here are some suggestions:
- To easily donate $10 to the Red Cross Japan Relief effort, text REDCROSS to 90999.

- Looking for a friend or loved one in Japan or have information on the well-being of people who are there? Google Japan has send up a Person Finder where you can search for anyone over there that you haven't been able to contact. Click on this link or use the embedded Person Finder on the right side of this page.
- For many other idea on how to assist the relief effort, this post on the Japan Subculture Research Center website is loaded with many other suggestions as well.
- UPDATE: Our friends at Anime Addicts Anonymous are having a live charity benefit show on Sunday, March 13, 2011 @ 8pm - 10pm EST in order to raise funds for the relief effort.
